About us

New Owners,
Fresh Look

When we bought the Sheet Harbour Motel, it had been an institution in the community since the 1950’s. We wanted to keep the friendly local feel, and give people a place to hang out in the evenings with their friends, and make it a relaxing spot for locals & travellers.
We are excited to share the new renovations, with updated rooms for the motel, and a big oceanview patio for the restaurant. We can’t wait to see you soon!

Sheet Harbour History

Sheet Harbour was originally known as Port North when it was first established around 1784. The Mikmaq refer to the area as Weijooik, which means “flowing wildly”. The name was changed to Sheet Harbour because of a large flat rock at the entrance to the harbour that made it very distinctive. Sheet Harbour is bordered by the West River and East River, flowing through the community and into the Northwest and Northeast Arms of the harbour.  The community has an industrial heritage, with a history of paper and saw mills along these rivers.

The Sheet Harbour Motel has been around for over 70 years, serving the growing community and the many workers at the mills.

The warm friendly atmosphere, the food is off the charts delicious and the rooms are fantastic. they definitely make you feel like family; loved my experience there.
